چکیده
Chicory (Cichorium intybus L., 2n = 2x 18) is naturalized and grows wild in many parts of Europe, South Central Asia N. Africa; moreover, this plant an important leafy vegetable cultivated worldwide. In Italy, horticultural crop known as radicchio, different biotypes are cultivated, especially the north-eastern part Italian Peninsula. Known to be introduced since 17th century Venice area, original biotype, still named “Late Red Treviso”, differentiated over centuries, it was also hybridized with endive (C. endivia), giving origin other biotypes. Several studies, based on morphological characterizations historical reports, describe relationships between most popular local varieties species, but work, focused use molecular marker information obtained through DNA fingerprinting, presents validations new insights into genetic relatedness diversity these By means random amplified polymorphic (RAPD) fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) markers, study provides relationship that intercourses among five historically Veneto region, which geographic centre differentiation vegetable. Through construction a maximum-likelihood dendrogram reconstruction structure core collection, consisting 652 samples belonging radicchio divided 22 old farmer populations, data their origin, distinctiveness, reported discussed.

This review gives an overview of agricultural topics on a non-model species, in other words, leaf chicory. Often classified as a minor crop, “Radicchio”, the Italian name of leaf chicory, is assuming a very important role at both a local and national level, as it characterizes a high proportion of the agricultural income of suited areas. Botanical classification along the genus Cichorium is rep...
متن کاملA “Novel” Protocol for the Analysis of Hydroxycinnamic Acids in Leaf Tissue of Chicory (Cichorium intybus L., Asteraceae)
A "novel" protocol is presented for easy and reliable estimation of soluble hydroxycinnamate levels in Cichorium intybus L. leaf tissue in large-scale experiments. Samples were standardized by punching 6 discs per leaf, and hydroxycinnamates were extracted by submerging the discs in 80% ethanol with 5% acetic acid for at least 48 h in the darkness at 4°C. Residual dry mass of the discs was used...

متن کاملRelationships among radicchio (Cichorium intybus L.) types grown in Veneto and diversity between local varieties and selected lines as assessed by molecular markers
Red or variegated chicory (Cichorium intybus L., 2n=2x=18) native to, and very extensively cultivated in North-Eastern Italy as a leafy vegetable, locally called “radicchio”, includes different types which represent valuable high-quality crops. The five major types of radicchio cultivated in the Veneto region were investigated by PCR-derived molecular markers (e.g. RAPDs, AP-PCRs, I-SSRs and AF...
